Whisper no front seam boyshorts with various inseams (PDF)

 

Featuring: fitted at the low/middle/high waist and hips no front seam boyshorts designed for knit fabrics. These boyshorts feature high, medium and low rise and can be finished with elastic (regular or picot) or waistband band, fully enclosed gusset that runs down the legs. The gusset can be fully or partially lined. Legs can be hemmed, finished with non slip or with a lace. Optional v-shaped back panel.

Options for the rise:
Low / Medium / High rise with the waistline finished with enclosed braided / clear elastic or a waistline band (low and medium rise only).

Options for the leg finishes:

* Stretch lace

These boyshorts performed well as: regular underwear, sleeping shorties, anti chafe shorties (3-7.5 in inseams), compression underwear (high rise) and running shorties that stay put. 

The pattern offers the following options:
View A - High/Medium rise boyshorts with hemmed legs / legs finished with lace
View B - Low rise boyshorts finished with waistline band 
View C - High/Medium/Low rise boyshorts with a back panel

Techniques to master: serging, topstitching, attaching lace trim, attaching picot elastic. This pattern is designed to get professionally looking garment using a standard sewing machine.

DIFFICULTY

The pdf pattern is a beginner (2/10)  level and moderately easy to sew.
First pair might take 1-2 hours, the following pairs take 20-30 minutes to finish (time may vary depending on your skills, equipment and supplies).

FABRIC

Light to medium weight, knit fabrics with at least 50% horizontal and 30-50% vertical stretch like Cotton Lycra, Stretch mesh, Nylon Lycra. Make sure that your fabric has good or excellent recovery - in this case your briefs will keep their shape and will not stretch through the day. 

45-60" / 115-160 cm fabric width  - 0.45 m / 1/2 yards

Lining (gusset)

Light to medium weight fabrics with 4 way stretch like cotton jersey, cotton interlock and other fabrics with natural fibers. The fabric doesn't need to have good recovery.
